MAP & TIMETABLES

The Isle of Jura is in the Inner Hebrides, to the west of mainland Scotland, and at a similar latitude to Glasgow. The main settlement is Craighouse, which is also the location of the Jura Hotel.

Most people travel to Jura on the small car ferry from neighbouring Islay, crossing the Sound of Islay between Port Askaig on Islay and Feolin on Jura. To get to Islay you take the Calmac ferry from Kennacraig (2 hours) or fly from Glasgow. Alternatively you can charter a RIB from Tayvallich direct to Craighouse. See our map page for clarification.

The journey from Feolin to the hotel is about twenty minutes by car along the A846 (the island's only road). This is a single-track road with passing places, and it leads you along the coast - past a standing stone, Jura House and several hundred curious red deer.

This is also a lovely route to cycle, allowing you to admire the beautiful views at a leisurely pace. Those travelling to Feolin Ferry as foot passengers can be met by Alex and the Jura Bus.

"The staff try really hard to please despite the hotel having a monopoly. We had a great room, comfortable bed, enjoyable meals and felt that

we were really welcome. There was a major storm during our stay and we were kept well-informed about ferries and accommodation. Thanks for a pleasant and enjoyable stay."

"Really enjoyed our stay in this lovely location (a view to die for !). Good food & excellent service helped even if the weather was a bit indifferent (but that is Scotland). Very homely atmosphere in the hotel."
