Camping on Jura Scotland

If you are looking into camping on Jura in Scotland, then here at the Jura Hotel, we can provide camping pitches for you right in front of our Hotel. From the 1st of April to the 30th of September we are open to take bookings. We are lucky to have a lush green field positioned in front of our hotel which is right next to the sea. So you are guaranteed a beautiful pitch for the duration of your stay taking in the views over Sound of Jura ! Additionally, being in the village of Craighouse, you are in the prime location for all that you need to have an enjoyable and comfortable stay. One thing to point out is to bring bug spray! The famous Scottish Midge also enjoys camping out here in the summer!

The Isle of Jura Hotel camping facilities

Here at the Jura Hotel in Craighouse, we have all the facilities that you need to cater to your camping needs. Facilities include a shower block with toilets. This comes with modern showers & toilets, shaver points, a hairdryer, a washing-up sink, a washing machine & tumble dryer and disabled access. Furthermore, you are more than welcome to use the hotel facilities. Why not come and enjoy a drink or some food in our cosy lounge and bar? Here we serve a range of of beverages from local and afar. Also, our delicious menu offers something for all appetites with a great range of dishes to choose from. If you need to stock up on supplies the local community shop is well stocked wide range of fresh and frozen foods, store cupboard essentials and household goods. Additionally, we have parking around the back of the hotel.

How to get here

If you visit in the summer you can get here on the Jura passenger ferry from Islay. When you arrive on the island Gairlochhead Coaches offers a shuttle bus that can escort you to Craighouse. If you are coming by car you will need to travel to Islay by ferry and then jump on the Jura car ferry which runs between Port Askaig on Islay and Feolin on Jura. When you arrive you can explore the island by bike (for hire here on Jura) or book a bus or boat tour. There is plenty for you to see and do when you visit. From our local wildlife, the stunning scenery and the coastline, to sampling the local Jura Whisky from Jura Distillery (our neighbour) there is something for everyone.

How to book

If you want to camp and you know your dates you can book your pitch online in advance. If you are taking things as they come you are more than welcome to turn up on the day and book a spot. Important to note is that at the weekend of the Jura Fell Race, we cannot offer bookings that have not been booked in advance.
